About the Scumbags
Scumbags VTT is a free, open source virtual tabletop for running role playing adventures online with the worst people you know. Here's the lowdown on what this racket is and why you'll keep crawling back.
What's the deal
It's a virtual tabletop — the digital version of a real table, for when your party can't be bothered to put on pants and show up in person. Gamers needed somewhere to roll dice without leaving the house, and the fancy VTTs are bloated and slow and take an hour just to boot. Scumbags is the opposite: lightweight, fast, and dumb-simple, so you can flip between a real table and an online session before anyone sobers up.
Lightweight on purpose
No 3D eye candy, no character-sheet replacement, no spell and magic item lists holding your hand. Just tokens on a map, the way the gods of tabletop intended. Bring your own books and sheets like a real adventurer. Role playing is about the dumb story you and your DM cook up in your imaginations — not gawking at fancy graphics. The one luxury we splurged on is Fog of War, because hiding things from your players is deeply satisfying and we have no shame.
Rule systems
There's a heap of role playing systems and Dungeons & Dragons is the big one, so that's the one with proper support baked in. Everything else — Cyberpunk Red, Dune, whatever cursed homebrew you're running — works fine too, because every system on earth boils down to one thing: rolling a dice and praying. So roll it manually and quit whining.
